Facebook doesn't even have a player. I use DOT.TUNES to quickly share ideas and music parts with other musicians that I'm creating with. Before DOT.TUNES, getting a file to one of my collaborators meant multiple failed attempts and broken transfers over IM (arrgh!), trying to get through to YouSendIt! or uploading to RapidShare which is not rapid and puts MY precious music in the hands of some mysterious 3rd party. Now I just setup SECURE accounts on MY OWN MACHINE and give my fellow musicians access to specifically what I need them to have. As an artist, I'm always making songs and working on ideas at home. Sometimes, it's harder for me to get a half-finished song to a producer than it is to come up with an idea. With everyone being on different IM protocols, firewalls and whatnot, I often find myself running around trying to get music to the right people. Sometimes, I wind up mailing a CD, which can take an extra 2 or 3 days.
And then, there are times when I find myself in a studio with the right people, but I don't have the idea I was working on the night before with me. In those cases, I spend time trying to recreate the melodies and lyrics, which hardly ever come out as good as I had previously laid them down.
But since I got DOT.TUNES, I've been able to collaborate with more people, more easily and more quickly than before.

I'm an organic lady... i HARLDY use my computer. In fact, it took whole lot of convicing for me to transfer my music over the web. I'd call begging my producer buddie for tracks on CD and they just laughed at me. Then they hipped me to DOT.TUNES and I'm laying joints down like this one. My man Mark hit me with this track online, i wrote to it and dropped the vocals in Philly. We shared the finished jam with him with DOT.TUNES. I'm lovin' DOT.TUNES so far. As a crate-digger/sampling producer, I'm very much attached to my music stash. For me, the creative process starts by browsing my sample sources. I'm a vinyl enthusiast at heart and I spin wax from my soul & afrobeat 45 collection heavily, but I don't want my most prized assets to depreciate or worse, due to abuse.
So, as much as I resisted going digital, the wear that I am started to notice in my collection concerned me so much that 3 years ago I began preserving my record collection through digitization. Now my digital archive rivals the size of my physical collection. But, with tens of thousands of songs in my digital archive, I can no longer fit my collection on my 60GB iPod or my 100GB internal laptop drive. And, like every DJ who's ever spun a club, I've had those moments while spinning where I'm like, ''I wish I had that record with me!!!''

Just the other day, my manager hit me on my Sidekick asking me to attend an impromptu meeting to submit tracks for DMX. As luck would have it, I wasn't at my studio at the time and had lost the keys to my crib. It's a good thing one of my production partners was running DOT.TUNES. I logged on from a computer during the meeting and downloaded some of my latest heat as well as some of the tracks that I had done for 50 Cent, G-Unit, Ludacris, and Nappy Roots.
